  1. Hello Caitlin,

I have been doing promotional marketing for L’oreal’s Men’s Fragrance lines for the last two years and I stumbled upon the opportunity by luck. I’m interested in venturing out on my own and being a independent contractor for other brands. It seems to me like the promotions industry is so “hush hush” do you have any suggestions for how I can get myself started?

  2. Hi Adrian,

What city are you located in? My suggestion on how to get started is to make sure you have some semi-professional headshots, a promo resume and register with the nationwide promo companies. Some companies I would suggest registering with are Encore Nationwide and Attack Marketing. Also, the gig and talent sections on Craigslist are a good place to look.
